1. What is a super capacitor?


The basic principle of super capacitor, also called electrical double-layer capacitor, is to utilize the double-layer structure composed of active porous electrodes and electrolyte to obtain a large capacity. Structurally, a super capacitor can be thought of as two unrelated porous plates separated by an electrolyte when a voltage is applied to the two electrodes. The potential applied to the positive plate attracts the negative ions in the electrolyte, while the negative plate attracts the positive ions. Eventually two charge reservoirs are created, one layer separated in the positive plate and another layer separated in the negative plate, which is the origin of the double electric layer.
